Maria Etzrodt Gibbons is Of Counsel at Kilkenny Law, and the founder of The Law Offices of Maria Etzrodt Gibbons, LLC, a Norristown law firm where she concentrates her practice in the area of family law, child advocacy, child and/or parent representation in truancy and dependency matters (until December of 2015), and Parent Coordinator appointments (Prior to May, 2013/ after March, 2019).  Ms. Gibbons also handles matters in private and/or Court- appointed Mediation and/or Arbitration.  In January of 2006, she was appointed Solicitor to the Montgomery County Office of Children and Youth where until April 15, 2012, she handled Montgomery County’s child abuse, neglect and dependency matters in Juvenile Court. She was a Court Appointed Guardian Ad Litem to several Unaccompanied Refugee Minor Children/Youth from February of 2014 to January of 2016, where she represented their best interests in Juvenile Court proceedings. 


In January of 2016 she was appointed Master of Dependency (now Juvenile Court Hearing Officer) in Juvenile Court for Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas, where she presides over Permanency Review hearings for all dependent youth in Montgomery County, PA, including but not limited to children/youth placed in Foster Care/Group homes/RTF’s by the Office of Children and Youth and/or Unaccompanied Refugee Minor Children/Youth placed through the ORR (Office of Refugee Resettlement) with Bethany Christian Services in foster care, Group Homes and/or Semi-Independent Living (SIL). 

Ms. Gibbons has lectured and written regarding child advocacy, family law, dependency law, protection from abuse issues, pro bono practice, appellate procedure and identity theft matters for the Montgomery Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the Pennsylvania Family Lawyer, the Montgomery County Paralegals Association and the American Bar Association Partner’s Program. Ms. Gibbons has also lectured regarding criminal and family law matters to local elementary schools through the Montgomery Bar Association Doctor/Lawyer project, and participated as a member of the MBA’s  2010-2011, 2011-2012, 2012-2013, 2013-2014, 2014-2015, 2015-2016, 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 Law and Liberty Civics Education Program with the Norristown School District.


Ms. Gibbons has been frequently appointed by the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas to serve as a child advocate, guardian ad litem (on behalf of minor children and incapacitated adults), Master in Annulment, Master in Divorce and as Parent Coordinator/Mediator.  Ms. Gibbons had also been appointed as Parent Coordinator by the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas, until May of 2013.   In addition, Ms. Gibbons has served for in excess of (25) years as a civil arbitration panelist for the Montgomery County Courts and more recently as a volunteer Friend of the Court for Protection From Abuse matters. 


Ms. Gibbons resides in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania with her husband, Patrick J.  Gibbons, of Ryan, Brown, Berger & Gibbons, PC, and two sons, Liam and Kieran, ages (18) and (16).  She has been a parent and sponsor for the Plymouth Township Soccer league; Plymouth Township ABA, Jr. Basketball league; and Plymouth Township little league baseball.  She is a former parent for Plymouth Meeting Friends School, and   Norwood Fontbonne Academy and current parent for St. Joseph’s Preparatory School in Philadelphia and Fordham University.
